HONORS TO FALLEN FREEDOM VICTIMS

On the occasion of the commemoration of the 71 years of the liberation of Nis in WW 2 - at the Square `Kralj Milan` , the delegation of the City, City Municipalities, associations of war veterans, military, police, civil society organizations, laid wreaths and flowers at the Monument to the Liberators of Nis and then at the Memorial park "Bubanj" for the victims of fascist terror.

A tribute to the liberators of Nis, in the name of Palilula paid also Boban Džunić, president of the Municipality and Aleksandar Zdrale, vice president of the Assembly. In the memorial park "Bubanj" flowers were laid by Alexander Zdrale and Sasa Matic, vice presidentr of Palillula.

"In the territory of Palilula there are many memorials to keep the memory on the victims of the Second World War and the anti-fascist struggle of our people - said Boban Džunić, president of Palilula Municipality. Memorial Park "Bubanj" is where the fascists executed several thousand of people who had previously been imprisoned in a concentration camp, "Red Cross". Palilula Municipality, with its `Strategic program of development` and research projects, continuously is realizing the landscaping of this memorial park and other memorials in the municipality. Due to undefined system of care and maintenance, these memorials are often targeted by vandals. For the generations to come, it is important to remember these events from our history, to preserve the memory of the fallen victims, because only in this way we appreciate the best peace and freedom we have.
